March 2024 · 1 minute read

Canadian killer, Luka Magnotta, is currently serving a life sentence in Quebec’s maximum-security Port-Cartier Institution, where he married another incarcerated person in 2017.

His mother, Anna Tourkin, called for his release in 2020 due to a COVID-19 outbreak at the prison, but all requests for his release were denied.

In May of 2012, Magnotta recorded a disturbing video of him brutally killing and dismembering Chinese International student, Jun Lin.

After mailing parts of the body to different political parties and schools, Magnotta fled the country.

A crime scene was found but no suspect. However, police had extensive information about Magnotta’s motives.

Because of his horrifying past as an online animal abuser, volunteers from the internet had been scrutinizing and trying to catch him for years.

In 2017, Magnotta got married to a fellow inmate, Anthony Jolin, with Magnotta’s mom, Anna Yourkin as his witness.

According to reports, the incarcerated couple were not granted permission to use the private family visitation center or have any type of cohabitation by the Correctional Service of Canada.

In 2018, Magnotta’s mother teamed up with Brian Whitney to write a book about her son titled, My Son, The Killer: The Untold Story of Luka Magnotta and “1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick”.
